MUDr.Daniela Cymbalová

She was born on 19th September 1944. She studied at the Medical faculty UK in Bratislava, graduating in 1968. She passed the diploma in Internal medicine, and, in 1982, she passed the 2nd diploma in General medicine. Even her abundant medical knowledge did not prevent her addiction to alcohol and medicines. In 1989, she underwent treatment which became a milestone in her life. She started to be interested in people with similar problems to her own.

In autumn of 1989, she took part in training for laic therapists and in 1990 she accepted an offer to work as the doctor in the Anti-alcohol Advisory Centre on Hraničná Street.

In 1992, she took a fellowship in Austria and in 1996 in the USA. In the same year, she founded the therapeutic community for drug addicts in Tomky, where she is now working as the director and therapeutic guarantor. Since 1997, she has been a member of the expert board for the prevention, treatment and re-socialisation in the field of addiction at the Committee of Ministers for the drug addiction and drug control of the Office of Presidium.

Since 1998, she has been the deputy director of the Centre for Treatment of Drug Dependencies in Bratislava.
