WHEN THE WHISKEY DROVE TO TOWN

Keep youself! The Internet really works! The 100% pure country Harold Rogers from Texas replied to our web and sent his song in the next email! So it seems we have to start to translate into English! Uff!
Harold taught himself to play the guitar at an age of eight. He simply watched where they placed their fingers an the guitar on country concerts. At 16 he started playing in clubs and has performed all over U.S. He also performs his Gospel music in churches, prisons, and opry's. He'd like to come and play at some of Czech or Slovak music festivals. Reply to bhrtexas@webtv.net !

He writes about the song he has sent us: I hope you like this song. I think it could really make some people (Teenagers & Adults) think. This song is based on a true story. ...

Our critics:
"The song is really good, typical country style - peaceful song with Hawai guitar in which the story is essential."
Ľubomír Šramo, leader of the group Attack

Latest news: Harold has won the Ohio CMA Country music Award for Male Vocalist of The
Year 1999. It was held May 23 in Dayton Ohio

There was a wreck, just two
miles down the road, from the house
that I once lived, a neighbour came
and picked me up to see what
help that we could give, as I
pulled up to the accident, I could
hear a young girl scream, dear
God don't take my mommy, cause
daddy died last week.
Don't take mommy, those words
still sound so clear, each time
I hear those words she cried, my
eyes just fill with tears, then
she reaches for her mommy's hand
and puts her head by mommy's
face, then the young girl cried
she's still alive, God seemed fit to let her stay.
As I walked back to the other car
there lay a young man just turned 18,
as I reached and touched his body, I
could feel he did not breath, the whiskey
poured from a bottle, that lay there
on the ground, this handsome man
gave up his life, when the whiskey
drove to town.
I've lost Tommy, still echoes in
my ear, those words, his mother, cried
that night as she poured out her
tears, oh God please forgive him,
and take my baby home, you know
I've tried, to raise him right,
and for the whiskey now he's gone.

Stala sa nehoda, akurát dve
míle po ceste, od domu
kde som kedysi býval, sused prišiel
a vzal ma, aby sme videli
či môžeme nejako pomôcť, ako som
došiel k miestu nehody, mohol som
počuť kričať malé dievča, môj
Bože, neber si mamu, pretože
ocko zomrel minulý týždeň.
Neber si mamu, tieto slová
stále znejú tak jasno, vždy
keď počujem tieto slová, čo kričala, moje
oči zaplavia slzy, potom
chytila maminu ruku
a položila svoju hlávku k maminej
tvári, a potom dievča zvolalo:
je živá, Boh ju nechal, aby zostala s nami.
Keď som prišiel k druhému autu
ležal v ňom mládenec tak asi 18ročný,
keď som sa k nemu dostal a dotkol sa jeho tela,
mohol som len cítiť, že už nedýchal, whiskey
sa vylievala z fľaše, ktorá ležala tam
na zemi, tento driečny muž
sa vzdal svojho života, keď whiskey
riadila auto do mesta.
Stratila som Tommyho, stále sa ozýva v
mojich ušiach, slová, ktoré kričala jeho matka
tú noc, keď prelievala svoje
slzy,o Bože, prosím, odpusť mu,
a vezmi moje dieťa k sebe, vieš,
že som sa pokúšala  vychovať ho dobre
a kvôli whiskey už ho niet.
